Fresh Mountain Beauty With Sanitas Skincare Review

When one of my PR contacts approached me a few weeks ago about Sanitas Skincare, I assumed it was a brand from the southwest or even Europe. I was so surprised to see that the products I received for review came from Boulder, CO, not too far from where I live. I was excited to try them out, hoping that products developed in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains would be especially well suited to my skin. Sanitas has a very large line of skincare products addressing every skin type and issue under the sun. I checked out 4 products that are suggested as suitable for all skin types (they categorize them for Normal, Combination, Oily and Dry).

I started out with the Lemon Cream Scrub. This skin cleanser has super fine silica crystals to buff the skin while cleansing and smells like a delicious lemon candy. The formula is creamy and lathers well. I did have some trouble rinsing all of the exfoliating particles off my face (I had better luck in the shower than trying to splash with water in the sink) and although I thought the formula seemed moisturizing while rinsing, my skin felt fairly tight and dry afterwards. Since my skin has been feeling particularly parched lately, I cut back to using this cleanser once every other day and liking it much better. The gentle scrub isn’t irritating and is helping slough off some of the flaking patches on my face.

My favorite product of the 4 I received is the Moisture Mist. Applied to skin after cleansing and before your usual moisture, it is meant to help with hydration and the active ingredients in your moisturizer absorb better. I love the extra moisture that it provides my skin without added weight. Even though it’s not the subscribed way to use it, I’ve also been using it throughout the day to help re-moisturize when my skin is starting to feel parched. Sprayed on top of my makeup doesn’t mess it up and doesn’t require any reapplication of powder or other cosmetics that would need reapplication if I’d rubbed on a moisturizer.

At night I was using the Vita C Serum to help stimulate collagen production and fight free-radicals. The serum is applied to damp skin after cleansing and before your moisturizer. I tried using it during the day, but found it to be a bit greasy and made my skin look shiny. At night I don’t have to worry about makeup adhesion or shiny skin and I felt more comfortable adding a serum to my basic night time routine (rather than my already product heavy daytime routine). Even though my skin is very dry right now, I’m still having problems with clogged pores and breakouts. This serum didn’t cause those problems even though it is pretty greasy. If you have oily skin, you may want to save this for night time use only too, but won’t have to worry about it causing zits.

The PeptiDerm Eye Treatment is designed to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes. I found the formula to be a bit greasy, like the serum. My concealer was sliding right off it even after waiting 15 minutes after applying the treatment, so I changed to a nighttime use only. Since I don’t really have any fine lines and wrinkles yet, it’s tough to say if the treatment makes a difference. But I did like that it was a great moisturizer for the skin around my eyes that is also on the dry side. I know that keeping that area well moisturized will help keep the signs of aging at bay.

All in all, I’ve really enjoyed using these products. Once I found the right time to use them, they helped my skin feel less dry and didn’t cause any problems with breakouts or irritation. Sanitas is very concerned with the pH level of their products, along with using high concentrations of active ingredients to make them highly effective. I like that they are naturally focused, paraben-free and preservative-free. I also like that the products came in reasonable sized packaging that will last a good amount of time. Too often highly-concentrated ingredients means tiny bottles and inflated prices. Sanitas is available in spas, so check out their website for a location to buy them near you.
